BUILD
The device feels nice and also solid. I'm a little surprised on how heavy it is, but that is not necessarily a bad thing. The rubberized backing is always nice for included grip. It's not as nice because say unibody aluminum, but it's certainly not $500 either.

SCREEN
The screen can be fantastic. But my problem is exactly like when iPad got Retina Display, in addition to the OS, most apps look fairly pixelated. A lot of the online games I tried are not high description, at least not high enough to take a look smooth on this screen. Hopefully programs get updated to higher resolutions.

Secure SCREEN ADS
Yeah there are advertisings on my lock screen. I'm not sure why this is such a huge problem. How much time do people very spend looking at the lock tv screen? The first thing I thought as i saw the ads is WOW the wonderful pictures are really crisp! The ads is there to subsidize some of the $cc price tag. I might pay the $15 to get rid of these people so I can customize it, yet I might not. I feel like this has been blown out of proportion by other customers.

SOUND
The heavy from the speakers is great. Superior to you would get from more expensive devices, very crisp and clean. We have the official Amazon case on and has now not affected the sound at wholly. Nothing much else to say, We doubt anyone will complain about this.

CRASHING
I've had two apps lock up on opening. I don't know whether it is the app or the OS. It truly is probably somewhere in the middle. Once more, not a big deal for me personally. If it crashes, then I fair tap it again and it performs. I've also watched a few films using the built in player in addition to Netflix and Amazon Prime. No failures for me at all. I'm guaranteed OS stability will be improved as time passes.

OVERALL SATISFACTION
Compared to my apple ipad tablet 3, obviously the Fire HD is not as "good" so to speak. I generally got it because I wanted some thing smaller. I also mainly used your iPad to surf the web, enjoy videos, and play some simple games. The Fire HD accomplishes this in addition to does so much more. If you're expecting an iPad killer, or a new desktop replacement, or a productivity equipment, then you should look elsewhere.

I purchased this to be a media unit, and I believe that is just what Amazon meant this to be. Normally made available, I think this is a great device. In fact, I decided to hold this and sell my iPad iii, which will give me another $250+ to spend on other things. Bare in mind, this device is not for everybody. If you want a media unit, you will be happy with this kind of. Do not expect an iPad intended for $200.

Power/Volume Buttons
There are a tad hard to press, which is reasonably alleviated by having the official event. Maybe it's because I'm a original iPad user, but this will absolutely take some getting used to.

Monitor Glare
It took me a short while to notice, but I was actively playing a Seek & Find game while in Caltrain, with the bright Palo Contralto sun shining right on me, along with didn't have any trouble seeing this screen. I remembered that Amazon pointed out how the screen was changed to relieve glare, and they did an incredible job.

BATTERY LIFE
I have already been playing Enigmatis (a hidden object recreation) for about an hour and some sort of half each day on my travel. This drains about 15 - 20% with the battery with the screen brightness virtually at the highest setting. Again, not necessarily iPad gold standard, but still good.

SYNCING MUSIC
I have a Samsung Galaxy S3 and used an software called Easy Phone Transfer to obtain all my music from iTunes on top of the phone. It transferred everything, which include album covers, and I was searching for something like that for this gadget. I tried iSyncr, a $3 request, which did the job, but failed to sync over album covers. I downloaded all my music into the Foriegn, then downloaded it from Amazon, which often increased the audio quality for many my songs and added artwork, nevertheless this still did not show on the device.

customer assistance
So I'm not sure if it was always there, but over this past weekend I noticed a dead pixel on my Kindle's screen. I called Kindle Documentation and after a short 5 second call, they sent me a brand-new Kindle, no questions asked. So once more, very happy with Amazon customer assistance. I am still very happy with all the device, and have some more thoughts on it:

HDMI CONNECTION
I bought a great HDMI cable to hook up the hearth to my 46" Samsung and had been quite impressed with the results. The product quality was very good, not Bluray high quality of course, but better than SDTV on an HD screen. You truly see every single thing you perform on the big screen, like you're using a giant Kindle.

GOOGLE Participate in APPS
One of the main disadvantages in my opinion is, or can i say was, the lack of all the Google Play apps available on the particular Kindle. With a little research, I discovered how to add apps that will not be available in the Amazon store. It is pretty easy to do and is effective with the apps I tried. That greatly improves my opinion of the fireplace HD.

PLASTIC AROUND THE SCREEN
This outer most edges of the Kindle are plastic. I noticed some form of discoloration on the corner of quarry, and just thought it was some dirt to scratch off. So My spouse and i rubbed my thumb nail on the area, and noticed there were visible scars on the plastic. It appears this kind of plastic can scratch some what easily, but I think this is merely cosmetic as not of the formative actually flaked. If you are not very anal about how your stuff seems to be, you probably won't notice it.

OS CHANGES
Here are two small intestinal colic I have with the OS that I'm sure could be fixed with a great OS update:

Battery Meter
It could well be nice if the battery meter could possibly show percentage instead of just any graphic bar. Some people have described Battery HD, but you still should swipe down to see the proportion, so this makes it easier but does not solve the issue I did.

Personal Videos
The mp4 videos My spouse and i put on the device are based in the "Personal Videos" app, which shows tv screen shots of all the videos I put in. The problem is, everything is shown are the screen pictures. You can get more info through holding your finger down on each video, but when you have numerous seasons of a show on this Kindle, it can get confusing. Ideally we should be able to have a look at videos in a list like our music.

LEFT HAND MODE
When i did't think this would be a difficulty until I played a Solitaire online game that DID have a left-handed mode. As a lefty who typically uses the Fire in landscape, My partner and i often have to reach across the actual screen to access the Settings or perhaps Home button in the menu. It's actually a small grievance, but can be definitely annoying when watching a movie as well as reading something. If there was an alternative for a left-handed layout with the menus on the left side of the device, that would be great.

Private VIDEOS APP
I had earlier complained about this app, as it did not really list my movies and crashed acting a pair of them. I recently drove down to LA from SF, and put 5 movies on device, only to get that 4 of them would non play! I was pretty mad, right up until I remembered a simple solution, acquire another app. I downloaded Avia Press Player, which is not the best either, but it played all the movies I put on the Kindle. My faith was restored.

GOOGLE PLAY Applications
A lot of people have questioned how to do this. If you aren't having luck with Google searches, do this:
